Large mural thrombus in the non-aneurysmal and non-atherosclerotic ascending aorta: a case report

Abstract Background The mural thrombus in the ascending aorta is rare, most of which are associated with aneurysm or atherosclerotic lesions, high risks causing catastrophic thrombotic events. A non-aneurysmal and non-atherosclerotic exceptionally uncommon. Case presentation We reported a large normal an asymptomatic patient. Preoperative imaging confirmed presence sessile located at left anterior wall aorta. Given that it had potential to cause fatal complications, surgical removal segment replacement were executed. patient uneventful recovery discharged 14 days after surgery. Conclusions Anticoagulant therapeutic cornerstone aortic thrombus, but surgery should be performed aggressively when floating avoid severe embolic complications recurrence.
